‘Hungry’ cast reveals Mukai Osamu possesses amazing cooking skills.
On January 5th, a press conference for upcoming drama “Hungry!” was held, which was attended by cast members Mukai Osamu, Takimoto Miori, Kuninaka Ryoko, Inagaki Goro (SMAP), and more.
‘Hungry!’ follows the story of ‘Yamate Eisuke’ (Mukai), a sadistic French chef with a poisonous tongue who used to be a bassist, but began his culinary career in accordance with his late mother’s will. ‘Yamate’ will face trials and tribulations as he chases his dream while overcoming the pressure from a rival restaurant, conflict with his fellows, and being entangled in a love triangle.
When asked about his memorable dish, Mukai answered, “It’s Gyoza. I used to make it at home when I was little. I like to eat it, but my memory is that I made it with my family.”
Mukai is known as a good cook in his private life as well, and his co-stars shared some stories that attested to Mukai’s cooking skill. Inagaki said, “He’s made me ‘Omurice‘, and it was amazingly delicious! My stomach has been grasped by Mukai-kun.”
Mukai’s other co-star, Katagiri Hairi, also complimented him by saying, “During his cooking scene, I saw him doing flambé coolly. It made me feel infatuated with him.”
At the conference, Mukai was asked to express his goal for this year with a single Chinese character. He chose t “理 (=same as his name ‘Osamu’)”, and explained, “It sounds like I’m emphasizing myself but… I think you need to cherish yourself first in order to cherish others. I happened to take the lead role, but this is a drama that we all work together on. I would like to get the chance to encounter good works this year while cherishing myself, and put all my effort into it.”
Mukai’s other co-stars, Tsukamoto Takashi, Miura Shohei, Osugi Ren, Sato Shori (Sexy Zone), and Kawabata Kaname (CHEMISTRY) also appeared at the press conference.
“Hungry!” will begin airing on January 10th via Fuji TV.
